Jazz Trumpeter Rob Walker Releases “Cat In The Alley” CD

(PRWEB) February 25, 2004

Jazz Trumpeter/Composer, Rob Walker, releases his new CD “Cat In The Alley” March 1, 2004. The new CD explores the trumpeter’s mellow side. “This music is reminicient of the earlier Miles Davis recordings where the music was more important the virtuousity”, explains Walker. The music was penned within a 48 hour period and brings to mind the West Coast jazz movement of the late 50′s.

Once again, Walker surrounds himself with the best talent. Origin recording artist, Brent Jensen ( appears on Alto Sax. Brent is one of the best Alto players in the world and seemlessly shares riffs with the leader Walker. The rhythm section is lead by Paul Anka’s former Music Director, Chuck Smith.

Walker has appeared with such acts as Natalie Cole, The Supremes, The Temptations, The Moody Blues, and Ray Charles. He appeared at the 2002 Park City Jazz Festival and in Mexico with David “Fathead” Newman.

The CD is scheduled to be in rotation on JazzWorks, a nationally syndicated jazz show that reaches 35 markets.

Autographed copies of the new CD can be secured by emailing Allegro Enterprises at

“Put My Faith In Jah” from the Award Winning Peter Tosh Tribute Album Project Shoots to the Top of the Charts

(PRWEB) March 12, 2004

PUT MY FAITH IN JAH, the new release from Atlanta producer Michael Malott and the award winning Peter Tosh Tribute Album Project in collaboration with attorney Jeanette Smith of Stone Tiger Entertainment (, is shooting to the top of the charts. The Peter Tosh Tribute Album and Tosh Foundation ( were created by Michael Malott a little over a year ago to preserve the memory and legacy of the slain reggae superstar and also to be able to help benefit the people of Jamaica and the U.S. Malott had been residing in Negril, Jamaica for several months when the idea was conceived to produce an album featuring top musicians performing classic Peter Tosh songs to raise funds for the renovation and restoration of Peter Tosh’s Mausoleum, to build a free medical clinic and to complete a Peter Tosh Museum in Westmoreland, Jamaica.

Released on the Tosh Foundation’s own RIGHTEOUS RIDDIMS label, this compilation reggae album features songs from such top reggae artists as PETER TOSH, TOOTS & THE MAYTALS, JOE HIGGS, MIKEY GENERAL, LUCIANO, HALF PINT, PABLO MOSES, BIG MOUNTAIN, ROOTS NATTY, LEHBANCHULEH, BOB ANDY, and others. The album did so well in pre-sales that the record label literally ran out of CD copies with its initial order. Malott and Smith both head up the Tosh Tribute Album Project.

Inside one retail copy of the PUT MY FAITH IN JAH CD is a “golden ticket” redeemable for two free round trip tickets to Jamaica courtesy of AIR JAMAICA.

The album starts out with a brief spiritual interlude by Mikey General which leads right into Mikey’s hit single “Red Ina Rome” featuring Luciano. Other notable tracks include a never before released extended version of Peter Tosh performing “Get Up, Stand Up,” a chilling rendition of “Lef Babylon and Come” from Peter Broggs, and an energetic version of “Steppin’ Razor” from the Godfather of reggae, Joe Higgs. Most people are not aware that this track, which is frequently associated with Peter Tosh, was originally written by Higgs. A great version of Toots & the Maytals “Hit Meck” and others are also included on the album. Ambassada makes his debut on this release as well with a rougher version of his song “See It De Now.” PUT MY FAITH IN JAH features the artwork and graphics of Atlanta artists Kenny Taylor and Judy Nettles. The album was compiled and edited by Malott in Dynamic Studio in Kingston, Jamaica and Criteria Studio in Miami, Florida. The album was mastered in Atlanta by JMAN aka Jermaine Trott.

PUT MY FAITH IN JAH is a limited edition release and only 1000 copies of the album have been made and are available through the Project’s web site at Customers who had made pre-sales orders received a surprise CD – the latest release from reggae great Tippa Irie.

The Peter Tosh Tribute Album project plans several more releases for the upcoming year. The Tosh Tribute Album EP will be released on the Miami-based STONE TIGER label in the summer and will include tracks from JERRY GARCIA, SUBLIME, TIPPA IRIE, EDI FITZROY and others. The full length Tosh Tribute Album will be released later this year and features classic Peter Tosh tracks performed by ERIC CLAPTON, SLASH, CYPRESS HILL, SEAN PAUL, LUCKY DUBE, BAD BRAINS, BEN HARPER, MARTHA DAVIS (Motels), LUCIANO, ASWAD, J MASCIS (Dinosaur Jr.), ASWAD, TIPPA IRIE, DEAN FRASER and others including tracks from two of Peter Tosh’s sons, ANDREW TOSH & JAWARA TOSH. KARL PITTERSON, who recorded innumerable songs for Peter Tosh including the “Walk And Don’t Look Back” duet with Mick Jagger, will be producing “Equal Rights” with LEHBANCHULEH for the Tribute Album.

Stone Tiger is the management label for such reggae artists as THE ABYSSINIANS, ADMIRAL TIBET, EDI FITZROY, LEHBANCHULEH, TERRY GANZIE and others and can be reached at Recent well-acclaimed releases have included Mikey General’s “Exalt Jah” and Lehbanchuleh’s “Claim the Joy” with pending releases this year from The Abyssinians, Admiral Tibet, Terry Ganzie, and Edi Fitzroy.

Malott’s current projects have been featured by CNN Headline News, ABC World News, Rolling Stone, MTV News, VH1 and more than 200 other publications around the world.

Additionally pending is the launch of the CHILDREN’S ROCK N’ DREAM FOUNDATION which will work to arrange musical celebrity visits to children’s hospitals across the country.

An extensive web site houses the Tosh Tribute and Instruments for the Youth projects at The state of the art web site received the Golden Web Award and the RAW Web Site Award in 2003. There, more than 102,000 visitors have found complete information on the projects and Peter Tosh himself including never before seen photos, audio downloads, and a complete discography. The web site also features complete information and updates on Peter Tosh Tribute releases, Instruments for the Youth and the soon to come CHILDREN’S ROCK N’ DREAM FOUNDATION charity.

The Tosh Estate and Peter’s memory have seen a number of events and improvements over the past year. Peter Tosh’s Mausoleum has been completely restored and renovated and a Peter Tosh Museum will be completed this year in Belmont, Jamaica. Two new Peter Tosh “Best Of” releases from EMI and Capital Records were released in 2003 and the Tosh Estate has just entered into a promising exclusive deal with Zion Rootswear for merchandising. Malott, who heads up the Tosh Foundation, hopes to see Peter’s name and accomplishments given the long overdue recognition deserved but is most importantly looking forward to the continuation of Peter’s work by seeing people benefit from the Foundation’s efforts.
