Release Date: 8-OCT-2002One of the few lineups to make the leap from 1980s “hair band” into long-term semi-respectability, Bon Jovi’s eighth studio album is somewhat true to the band’s pop-metal roots, though Bounce is ultimately mellower and more theatrical than previous outings. “Undivided” might be a Tom Waits number, all gravelly vocals and booming drums hinting at a dark hipness before kicking into a commercial, lush chorus. Still, it’s got a pleasing edginess, as does the toe-tapping, mechanized feel of “Everyday.” Jon Bon Jovi’s forays into film have clearly influenced Bounce. “You Had Me from Hello,” the title nicked from Jerry Maguire, is spare, poignant, and gentle, while “The Right Side of Wrong” references Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and has a piano-heavy Springsteen-meets-Billy Joel feel. Typical ballads like “Joey” and “All About Loving You” also populate the album, which often feels like a singer-songwriter outing, or a movie soundtrack, rather than an album by a veteran rock band. Some of Bounce‘s bouncier tunes may still appeal to the now-middle-aged fans of the band’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” era, while the melodrama marking much of the album might lose those who prefer headbanging over Bon Jovi’s more mellow and grandiose musical musings. –Katherine Turman

Catchy lyrics, the entire album and all of Bon Jovi’s albums tell a story, with realism and conviction, without foregoing morals !!!! That alone sets aside this incredible band’s music. Place aside Jon’s family genes related to his seemingly ever present great looks, and peel away at the layers of the MUSIC…his and his band’s music deserves MUCH more attention and respect! Not only are they veterans in an industry that is ever-changing, but they remain true to themselves, the music, and their fan base! Again, congratulations, Bon Jovi – you never fail to deliver a quality musical product, and yes, you most certainly, “Have done it your way, as Frankie said,” and how fortunate for us that you have. Thank you for the many years of dedicated musical work, our ears and hearts and minds thank you, also!!!!

This album is awesome! It’s a good old fashioned American rock and roll album. The first song on the album is “Undivided”. It is a beautiful song that could very well pass for America’s new National anthem following the terrorist attacks. It talks about how we have all become United, as one, and that we stand for love, and truth, as we pray to God for his help. Try NOT to sing along with “Undivided”, you wont succeed though.
The second track is “Everyday”. This is a cool, clean sounding song that reminds us to make the most of “Everyday”. To dream, and to spread our wings and fly to accomplish those
    dreams.
Track number 3 is “The Distance”. It is about how when you love somebody, NOTHING can or will stop you from being with them. That you will do whatever it takes to be with them, even if it means “going the Distance”.
Track 4 is “Joey” and is about someone changing their life, and making it better, even though it is sometimes scary to do so.
Next, is the song “Misunderstood”. It talks about how, in relationships, or life in general, that when someone gets mad at us, we shouldnt be too upset about it, because they just misunderstood us, because we had good intentions in doing what upset them in the first place.
Track number 6 is “All about lovin’ you”. This title says it all. It talks about dedicating our lives to those who we love.
Song number 7 is “Hook me up”. It is about a young man who is seperated from the rest of the world, and reaches out to be part of it, and that whether you live in America, or in Afghanistan, we are all Brothers, who all have the same need….to be loved.
Song #8 is “The right side of wrong”. This is a great song that has the feeling of Bon Jovi’s classic “cowboy” mentality.
Song #9 is “Love me back to life”. It describes how love can cure our pain and give us hope.
Song #10 is “You had me from Hello”. It is a BEAUTIFUL love song…and any guy who wants to send good shivers down his woman’s spine, should sing this song to her.
Song #11 is the title track, “Bounce”. It is the classic, “If you fall off the horse, dust yourself off, and get right back on again” song. It’s about bouncing back even when everyone else counts you out. If you are having a hard time in life, and need inspiration to have the courage to reach for your dreams, and to ignore what others say, THIS IS THE SONG FOR YOU!
This CD also has a cool booklet with full color pics, and all of the lyrics! The cd design itself is beautiful! This is what the album “Bounce” means to ME. But the great thing about Bon Jovi and their music is that the songs can mean ANYTHING you want them to. They are YOURS and yours alone, and you can enjoy them and use them to inspire you anyway that you want. This CD is a great example of that. I hope you enjoy it, and that it inspires you to reach for your dreams. You just might reach them, as long as you dont ever give up.

I adore almost all music BJ, so keep that bias in mind as you read. That said, this album ROCKS. When I read that Jon said that this album rocks harder than anything they’ve done, I thought “No, it can’t be louder than Slippery When Wet or New Jersey.” But it is. “Undivided” and “Bounce” have very heavy guitars that contrast in style with everything on BJ’s last album Crush (except maybe “One Wild Night). I think that shows that BJ is constantly evolving and trying new things, eventhough they are accused of being formulaic. “The Distance” and “Hook Me Up” are songs that Lonn Friend might describe as music that takes your heart to places from which you never want to return. If you are a BJ fan, you know what he means. My impression is that a couple of the songs are clearly influenced by other artists. “Joey” is a lot like Elton John’s “Levon” which Jon did a cover recording for in the early 90s. “Open All Night” seems to be influenced not only by Jon’s work on Ally McBeal, but by Tom Waits (ala Closing Time). And I can’t help but think “Misunderstood” is a bit like a Matchbox 20 song. It is very catchy as well. All-in-all, this record is fresh due to the band’s desire to keep the infectious BJ attitude while exploring new sounds and new lyrical concepts.

I get so many compliments on this fragrance. It has plum and floral notes with a musky romantic note as well. This is my new favorite fragrance.

I really love how sweet and soft this lotion smells. I think I’ll be ordering the perfume soon, so I can layer them. :)
